The White & Green Ribbon
The White & Green Ribbon is not trail. It is an adventure and a life-changing experience. With your own power, you chart your own route through the Scandinavian mountain range, from Grövelsjön to Treriksröset, or vice versa.
The journey can be undertaken either in summer or winter, within one or several years, with the color of the Ribbon representing the season in which it’s completed. Respect for the environment, the climate, mountain landscape, people, and wildlife is a guiding principle and a given responsibility.
Traveling through the entire mountain range provides experiences and memories that last a lifetime. You have time to simply be, to fully experience, and to reflect. You only need to take care of your most essential needs – staying warm, dry, fed, and safe – but nothing more, unless you choose otherwise. You will gain new insights, both about yourself and the mountain landscape you traverse. And as a wonderful bonus, unexpected opportunities for remarkable encounters, perhaps even friendships for life, await you.

SECTIONS
White or Green Ribbon Sections
Not everyone has the time, resources, or experience to take on the entire mountain range — about 1,300 km – in one go. That’s why we 2024 introduced the White & Green Ribbon Sections: a challenge and an opportunity for those who want to complete their Ribbon over a period of up to five years!
With the White or Green Ribbon Sections, you can start your Ribbon anywhere along the Scandinavian mountain range. You can hike northbound or southbound – whichever direction suits you best – and your sections can vary in length. However, after a maximum of five years, your route must form an unbroken line between Grövelsjön and Treriksröset.
The Section version is, of course, not the same as completing the White or Green Ribbon in one season. It’s a different kind of mountain experience with a different structure. But Sections offers many more people the chance to (in a sustainable and responsible way, of course) experience the mountains within the Ribbon framework. We’re proud and happy to make it possible for more people to head out on their own nature adventure and to offer a more possible, achievable goal for a long hike or ski tour.

MAP & LIST
Keep track of Ribboners
The White Ribbon season 2026 is now underway!
A total of 48 adventure-seeking participants are registered for Vita Bandet /White Ribbon this winter. Of these, 14 are international Ribboners, and we are honored to welcome, for the very first time, a Ribboner from Latvia. All but one Ribboner are traveling northbound from Grövelsjön. In addition to those completing the full route, we also welcome twelve Section Ribboners who are out on their first or second winter season.
We warmly wish all of this winter’s Ribboners the very best of luck and hope for a great winter season.
You can follow the Ribboners on their journey both in a list and on a map (for those who have chosen to share their tracking link). In the list, you can search, sort, and filter among all Ribboners who have started since 2010. On the map, you can follow all active Ribboners in (almost) real time and click on each participant to read more. Feel free to explore—there’s plenty to discover!
