White Ribbon 2025 – Summary
It has been a tough winter season and a challenging journey for this year’s White Ribbon participants. The winter of 2025 was quite unique, with unusually little snow and an exceptionally early spring. Naturally, this created difficulties for both skiing and pulk-hauling, along with significant risks and challenges when crossing rivers and streams. The season was also relatively mild, often warmer than usual, which can be problematic when combined with precipitation.
A total of 50 participants signed up for White Ribbon 2025 – a new record since the initiative began in 2010. However, 17 chose not to start, with most of them postponing their adventure until next winter. Additionally, 15 participants had to abandon their journey for various reasons, including Achilles tendon injuries, snow shortages, and tight time constraints.
We are deeply impressed by everyone who set out – and even more so by the 18 participants who completed the entire route. Congratulations!
All 18 travelled northbound, from Grövelsjön to Treriksröset. Together, they skied for a total of 1,118 days – that’s over three years collectively, with an average of 62.11 days per participant.
The fastest of them all was Christian Kämmer and his dog Benni, who completed the full distance in just 26 days, setting a new record! Many others chose to take their time and enjoy the mountains at a slower pace. Of the 18 finishers, 11 were from Sweden, and the rest from Norway, Germany, and Denmark. The group included 10 men and 8 women – and notably, two dogs completed the full White Ribbon as well!
